La processione della volpe tra iconografia e Roman de Renart

Abstract

ABSTRACT: nella branche 13 del Roman de Renart si menziona una decorazione parietale raffigurante la procession Renart, da molti intesa come un palese richiamo al funerale della volpe inscenato nella branche 17 (La Mort Renart). Tuttavia, numerose attestazioni iconografiche e letterarie sui funerali della volpe inducono a ritenere questo tema precedente e indipendente rispetto alla tradizione renardiana. Pertanto, sembra preferibile ipotizzare che sia la br. 13 che la 17 lo abbiano recuperato autonomamente.

ABSTRACT: in Branch 13 of the Roman de Renart it is mentioned a wall decoration depicting la procession Renart, by many meant as a clear reference to the funeral of the fox staged in Branch 17 (La Mort Renart). However, numerous iconographic and literary attestations lead us to consider this theme as previous and independent from the Renardian tradition. Therefore, it seems preferable to assume that both Br. 13 and Br. 17 have recovered it autonomously.
